Day of pretend and Our Prince

Today has really been a good day. The girls have done the best job playing together, and they come up with the greatest "stories" to pretend. Today they made a "pool" in the form of a ring of couch cushions, put on their swimsuits, and playing for almost 2 hours. They collected "monies" which were really Daddy's never-been-used poker chips, and they took their babies "swimming". It was all too too cute to listen to! They're both such a blessing and it brings me a LOT of joy to see/hear them playing togther. Oh, and they served me breakfast in bed. Check it out:

We also had a tea party after my b'fast in bed. ;)

***************************

I also want to share a little bit about "Our Prince". Inspiration for this LO came from a canvas that hangs in my nieces' bedroom. The cute little quote says, "My prince has already come, and his name is Daddy." I've loved that quote for years now, and I love the innuendo behind it. I want my girls falling head-over-heels in love with their Daddy (and no one else!!! hehehe!). There's such a special bond between daddies and daughters, and I want that for my crew too. And to do my best to capture the moments that ARE special between them. And what better way to foster those moments than to make a LO about one, right? (well, not really but I had to segway somehow.)

When I saw the frog prince on these Webster's pages I knew I wanted to do a LO about Josh and the girls, our princesses with their prince. I just happened to find this photo of them on Valentines Day each giving Josh a kiss on the cheek, and thought it was perfect.

Hope you have a great day and a wonderful weekend! Enjoy spending time with the prince and/or princesses in your family too! (k, that's cheesy, but I just had to say it! :D ) Have a great weekend!

Thrifty Thursday

If you know me well at all, you know that I'm all about being thrifty! I like playing the "Grocery Game", I clip coupons, and I REALLY like making my scrap supplies go as far as I can stretch them!

Well today is my turn to share a "Thrifty Technique" over at Urban Anthology. I posted a tutorial on how to maximize your Webster's diecut sticker sheet to make a customized frame. You can check out the thread here. But here's the final product, a LO of my mom's high school senior portrait (which she hates, but I love!).

All supplies using the Urban Anthology May kit "Enchanted Afternoon" (sold out).

A little bit of everything

We had a great time this weekend at the lake. Even though it rained everyday but one, we still had a good time. I always love hanging out with my family, my extended family, and laughing together! And boy do we laugh! Finally when the sun came out, we hit the water and tried to cram everything into one morning.

Hanging out on the front porch.

Sarah Kate went on her first Waverunner ride.

She didn't like it at first.

But then we couldn't get her off!

We went on a boat ride that the girls loved! They kept saying, "faster! faster!"

But then fell asleep. hehe! Something about the boat always makes them fall asleep.

Later in the day we enjoyed a huge family lunch, and celebrated Mom's birthday.

Overall it was a very fun weekend! I also got to play with my Urban Anthology May kit, and I made this card for Mom.

I love, love, loved working with those Webster's pages. Oh my WORD those were fun!
And I'll post more from this kit soon! ;)

Speaking of birthdays, come join us over at Urban Anthology :
Photobucket
I can tell ya that it's gonna be a BLAST!!! The DT has some amazing plans, and you're not going to want to miss this one for sure!

Hope you had as good a weekend as we did! I'll be back soon with some more LOs!

Some sneakies before the long weekend!

Just finished up my Serendipity LOs for June (is it June ALREADY???!!!!) and thought I'd give you a little taste of the yumminess.

Hope you all have a fabulous (long) weekend! I'm looking forward to celebrating Mom's b'day with her, hanging out with my VERY pregnant sis, and hopefully catching a few rays! Not to mention, getting some DEE-licious BBQ and laughing with my cousins!

Have a good one!

New sketch!

Hi there everyone! It's been another crazy week around here, but I think I've got it under control! Just one more day til the weekend! Yippppeee! I can't wait! :D

This week it was my week to create an original sketch over at Urban Anthology, and I thought I'd share it with you. I've been using a lot of wallet-sized photos lately so I can fit more on the page, so I made a sketch using them.

And then using the sketch, I did this LO of Josh:

"A homerun hitta"

Just so you know, he had imput in the title. hehe! I asked him what he wanted me to call it, and he said, "I dunno. I'm just a hitta." So I went with that, but added "homerun" to it because he's already hit 2 this season. And as an aside, he wants me to add that they were both inside-the-park homeruns, because he just so stinking fast around the base paths that they can't throw him out. ;)

Anyway, if you get a chance, I hope you'll try-out my sketch. This is only the 2nd one I've ever made. And if you do, hop on over to Urban Anthology and share it with us! I'd love to see what you all do with it! :D

House of crazies!

The girls have been doing lots of crazy and/or silly things lately that have made me laugh. hard. So I thought I'd share a few that I've been able to capture on film. (do we say film anymore even though it's all digital now? hmmmm...)

Anyway, among their latest antics is playing "bide and goom":

And then there's been a fascination with taking self-portraits. I tried to take advantage and make them into Mother's Day photos for cards.

Yeah, those didn't really turn out the way I'd planned....neither did the (non-existent) cards. :(

And then Glitter Girl struck AGAIN!

She looks so proud of herself doesn't she?! I'm fairly certain that she went to church the next day with it still in her ear. Thankfully the kind people in the nursery didn't mention it.

And well, that sums up a little bit of the craziness that's gone on around here in the last few weeks. Thanks to the rain, lingering tidbits of Easter candy, and more rain, they've kept me on my toes...and my house a wreck!

Spring banner

I just LOVE making banners, and this time I got to alter a Maya Road pennant banner that came in the Color Me Daisy May kit. Banners are just so bright and festive, and I love how they add to my decor. It's also fun to walk by and admire it as opposed to stacking it on top of my LO pile! hehe!

All product is from the CMD May kit except the scalloped circle punch, Martha Stewart butterfly punch, and Pink Paislee glitter. The orange Maya Mist (see butterflies) is an add-on.

Wow its been a while...

Who knew that May would be such a busy month for a SAHM with toddlers?! I mean, I don't even have school activities to blame! Well, I guess that's not entirely true. We did have volleyball try-outs last week so I was at the gym 2 days last week. I should've been there more, the day of the ACTUAL try-out, but we were on the road instead. We drove to the lake to drop off the girls, then to Mississippi to attend Josh's grandfather's funeral. Then it was back to the lake to pick up the girls and have a Mother's Day celebration with Mom, Meg, and Grandmother, then home. These last 4-5 days have been quite a blur. Not to mention that I attended another funeral yesterday of one of my former students. I taught him, and coached his sister, who was one of my team captain's last season. I'm trying to play catch-up at the same time that I'm really drained emotionally. It's been a couple of hard hard days and late nights too. But that'd be my own fault. Anyway, that's why the blog has been neglected. Not that I needed to give an excuse, but still.

I guess I can share a few photos with you. I've taken a lot, but none are scrapped. That's been on the backburner too.

First up, a horribly embarrassing photo of me

The girls and Josh surprised me with b'fast (consisting of a cookie and a brownie) in bed. I'd literally just woken up and sat up in bed. And Josh had the camera in my face instantly. Guess that's payback, huh?

Meg, Mom, and me

We've started the official countdown to when Meg and Mark's twins arrive, though I've cropped out her preggo belly! I figured she'd appreciate that! ;)

Our crew

We don't have a single photo where Caroline's not trying to get out of it. In this case, it kinda looks like she's smiling though.

Color Me Daisy Reveal

**caution another long post ahead**

This month Color Me Daisy had a main kit, "Happiness" and also 2 Pink Paislee mini kits, Captivating and Fetching. I was so excited that I got to play with 2 of the three kits! Thank you so much Michelle!

From the Main kit:
Washing Snails

Google-y eyes are not included in the kit, but I LOVE this chipboard snail!
The kit also comes with a chipboard dragonfly, 2 butterflies, and a ladybug.
I'll be using these soon! ;)

Not the right color thickers? Customize them with stickles! That's what I did for both the kite and the alphabet thickers. The kite is also backed with a Maya Road sheer.

With the Pink Paislee Captivating kit:
Her Spicy Side

I LOOOVE this photo of Caroline. It's just hilarious to me! I actually didn't take it, but our friend Holly Harnsberger did. She gets C to pose in all kinds of funny and silly poses. Not sure what the prompt was here but I know that C really wasn't angry, just posing. Can you guess where she's seen that pose before?! lol!

I tried a paper pleating technique. I also used some brown Pixee glitter. Who knew brown glitter would be so pretty?!

The main photo section is popped up off the page almost a half inch to make room for the paper pleating along the bottom edge.

"Home is where you hang your heart" a mixed media mini album

Front cover (acrylic)

No.6240 (chipboard)

"Welcome home"

"...to the everyday..." (acrylic):

"and the decorated..." (acrylic):

"Where we won't forget..." (chipboard):

"but still make memories..."

"HOME. It's where we...LIVE."

I made this mini album using the supplies from the Pink Paislee sticker book. I used the acrylic front "cover" and then the chipboard back "cover" and the spiral binding. To make it the smaller size I wanted, I just cut the acrylic and chipboard in half making them approx. 5 1/2" in length. The front cover of my mini is acrylic, as well as one of the pages inside it. The rest of chipboard pages. All the embellishments come with the CMD mini kit, both the Pink Paislee ones and all the others I used.

One last thing, don't forget that this month CMD is hosting their "Get Happy" month long crop. You can find it here. AND they're giving away "A RAK-a-day in the Month of May" on their blog. All you have to do is leave a comment and you could win a prize! Find the CMD blog here.
