Wordless Wednesday: the blonde curly mullet edition

I just can't bring myself to cut the curls even though they're a bit long. When it's not as humid outside they make a nice stringy mullet. (insert sarcasm here) But then every good Southern boy should have a mullet once in his life, right?

Will cut soon. I'm pretty sure I'll tear up. But it must be done. :(

Everybody needs a Bob Bob

Find the My Scrapbook Nook blog hop here.

In keeping with yesterday's post, I also created this layout over the weekend. This is absolutely THE BEST picture of my dad. He's the one we joke about always closing his eyes in pictures. And I mean always. So THIS one, I love. And of course it's of him and his little buddy. (which when did HE get so big?? aaaack!)

These two have a special bond. They spent A LOT of time together at Disney since neither one went on that many rides. Usually McClain is very happy to be on my hip, me holding him. But if Bob Bob comes in the room it's a different story. McClain lunges and holds his arms out for Bob Bob to take him. And McClain doesn't do that for just anybody. No one else in fact. Not even his daddy.

"Everybody needs a Bob Bob"

This line from Echo Park, This and That "Charming", may very well be my new favorite line. I LOVE the colors, the vintage feel to the paper, and all the little boy icons that come with it. I love it!

Oh, and in case you didn't catch it, my kids call my dad "Bob Bob". His real name is Bob and wanted to be called "Papa" by the grandkids. When a baby Caroline tried to say Papa it came out Baba which later turned in to Bob Bob. It stuck. It's so perfect for him. And it's true, everyone DOES need a Bob Bob like him. I'm so thankful that he's so active in their lives. I'm not sure who adores who more. And we all like it like that. ;)

Happy Tuesday!

Being reminded

**Find the Nook Blog Hop by scrolling down to the next post.**

Family. Usually it's our first answer when we're asked what we're thankful for and almost all the time we mean it. But then we kinda take them for granted too. I know I do. This week I've been reminded, yet again, not to though. That they could be gone in an instant.

I've had the misfortune of having two sweet friends be reminded of this very lesson. One lost her father rather suddenly, and I weep after reading her blog posts. My heart literally hurts for her. I'm reminded to appreciate my own Daddy so much more, knowing that I can still call him or hug him or strategize over whether or not to make Caroline a lefty or righty in softball. It's our "thing".

Another is a friend from church took her husband to the ER Thursday night for one thing, and he is now battling for his life. He's suffering from major complications from surgery which were unseen and are VERY scary. He's my age. They're kids are our kids ages. I teach one of their sons in Sunday School. They always sit in the pew behind us, all of us talking until the service starts. I found myself looking at Josh this weekend thinking, "What would *I* do?" And again, it's too close to home.

So with some extra time on my hands and a heavy heart for my friends I created this page. I'd been hanging on to this picture for just the right paper. But it turns out I just needed to scrap my family this weekend, my thoughts. Lucky for me that perfect paper just so happened to come in the mail at the same time. Funny how that happens sometimes.

It was nice to put my thoughts down on paper. Not that my words are deep or profound. Just a simple declaration of my love for them, if they should ever need to be reminded of it.

Nook Blog Hop!

Welcome to the My Scrapbook Nook Spring Blog Hop! Thanks for stopping by!

Hiding among the blogs from the list below are 5 prizes and one HUGE Grand Prize! We're giving away FIVE $10 prize packs and ONE prize pack valued at $150! So be sure to leave a comment on EACH blog's post, because you never know which blogs have these prizes hidden. To qualify for a prize, comments are due by Midnight PST on Wednesday, March 28th, and all winners will be announced on the My Scrapbook Nook blog on Friday, March 30th.

The project I want to share with you today is one using the Nook March Kit and the My Mind's Eye sketch/blog challenge #33 as inspiration. I scrapped my absolute favorite picture of Caroline from our trip to Disney World. The pinks and grays were a perfect match for the photo.

And I loved using the rub-ons in the kit. Here, I used 4 of them as embellishments and a journaling spot. I love the MME rub-ons, because the go on so smoothly! Even onto that wooden button.

I've also got a few more Nook announcements.
  • Don't forget the April kit subscriber's special. This month's special is for all new 12 month subscribers. New subbers receive the April kit for FREE as well as one MORE free kit at the end of their subscription! Now THAT's a good deal!
  • The April Grab Bags are also going up this month. They're only $10 for subscribers and FULL of product! SO WORTH every penny! If you want to check out what I did with the March Grab Bag check out THIS post.
  • And guess what ELSE is happening at the Nook right now? We're having a DT CALL!!! Be sure to check out our message board to find out more info!
I'll leave you with a peek at the Nook April kit that features Crate Paper's Storyteller line.

Your next hop is to an incredible Aussie's blog: Gina Rogers
